Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about renting with Over N Out. Don't see your question? Call or text us directly.

Renting
Over N Out operates in both Austin and Los Angeles. Karl runs the Austin branch and Christine covers LA — each with their own inventory. Reach out via phone, text, or email and we'll get back to you same day with a quote and can discuss logistics from there.
Yes. We can program to customer-specified frequencies for an additional programming fee. Note that when operating on your own frequencies, you'll be doing so under your FCC license, not ours.
Equipment
The CP200D is the updated, digital-capable version of the CP200. Some productions prefer the older CP200 because it powers on instantly — the CP200D has an 8-second boot delay when first turned on. Both models are programmed to communicate with each other, so you can mix and match within the same rental.
Pricing & Policy
We'll meet or beat the quote of any other rental company. We're filmmaker-founded — we genuinely understand what a production needs and we're easy to work with. Every walkie and surveillance earpiece is individually tested before it goes out: open mic, speaker, and both incoming and outgoing with the surveillance plugged in. Every unit goes out fully charged, extra batteries included. And we don't gouge you on L&D. Our replacement costs are just that — the cost of replacement, nothing more.
Yes. We are licensed in the lower 48 states on all 16 frequencies that our walkies are programmed to.
Student Films
Yes! Our co-owner Christine is an indie filmmaker herself and remembers the struggle — no walkies on set, or sets with toy walkies — and she remembers the people who helped her along the way. We're proud to support as many student projects as we can with donated rentals, and occasionally support other super small indie projects with causes we believe in.
